Grounds Maintenance Operative

Salary: National Minimum/Living Wage – £28,950 per annum (DOE)

We’re looking for a hardworking and reliable Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our team. The role involves carrying out a wide range of grounds maintenance tasks across commercial and residential sites – including grass cutting, hedge trimming, strimming, weeding, and litter picking. Whilst occasionally assisting with Arboriculture operations.

Daily duties may include:

Grass cutting using pedestrian and ride-on mowers
Hedge trimming and shrub maintenance
Strimming, leaf blowing, and general clearance
Weeding and application of herbicides
Litter picking and site tidiness
Reporting defects or issues to the supervisor

Essential Requirements

Previous experience in grounds maintenance or horticulture
Full UK driving licence
Reliable, punctual, and physically fit
Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Willing to work as part of a team and follow instructions

Desirable Requirements

PA1/PA6 herbicide application certificates
CSCS or ROLO health & safety qualifications
Experience operating ride-on mowers or compact tractors
Basic plant identification knowledge

Training and Development
Great Oaks Tree Services operates an in-house training centre. All successful candidates will automatically receive NPTC training and certification in Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross Cutting (CS30), and Felling of Small Trees (CS31) as part of their role.
